Butyl tape Sitko Elastic

Sitko Elastic Butyl Tape is a permanently elastic sealing tape with a thin polyolefin film as its backing. This gives the tape exceptional stretchability in both length and width, with elasticity exceeding 300%! The tape is coated with a thick cold-weldable, self-vulcanizing butyl rubber adhesive, making it extremely sticky on most common surfaces. The vulcanizing butyl rubber adheres strongly to clean, dust-free, and grease-free substrates. Proper environmental and substrate temperatures are required to ensure optimal adhesion.

Sitko Elastic adheres reliably to metals, plastics, bricks, concrete, and wood, making it ideal as a permanent sealing tape in structural applications. Its flexibility allows it to conform easily around complex shapes, making it suitable for challenging sealing areas.

Due to its high impermeability, Sitko Elastic can also be used for hazardous material encapsulation, preventing substances such as radon, microbes, PAHs, or VOCs from entering indoor spaces. It has been tested for radon tightness and holds an M1 indoor air classification.

Sitko Elastic can be used for weatherproofing structures against external moisture. It withstands various weather conditions year-round and is resistant to rain and moisture. However, it is not suitable for prolonged UV exposure and should be protected from sunlight as soon as possible after installation, no later than three weeks.

Highly absorbent, porous, or sandy substrates are recommended to be pre-treated with Sitko Primer.

Note: A “double release” version is also available, where the tape’s adhesive liner is split in two, making installation easier in corners, edges, or around pipes.
